How many reps do you need to do in order to build muscle? That is an important thing that many serious hardgainers never consider. When you are lifting weights frequently to build the optimum amount of lean muscle mass, you should take into serious consideration how many reps for mass is ideal.

Have you ever stopped to think about how many reps you should do to build muscle? Chances are you haven’t. In this video, fitness model Troy Adashun is going to discuss the ideal repetition range for building lean muscle mass.

How many reps to get ripped and how many reps and sets to build muscle will all be broken down into detail during this powerful video.

The amount of reps to build muscle starts with some fundamental knowledge on how your body works and what breaks down and creates micro tears. Troy discusses in the video that you have to put overload and maximize your time under tension to get ripped and build muscle.

Troy says if you are a strength athlete and training to be a power lifter, you should stick with heavy weight and be in the 1-3 rep range. However, this is not the ideal repetition range for building muscle mass.

Troy says that you have to consider your time under tension when building lean muscle mass. You have to keep your muscles under tension for a considerable amount of time with heavy weight to create the "micro tears" necessary to build lean muscle mass.

If you’re not keeping your muscles under tension for at least 20-30 seconds, you aren't giving your body the best chance possible to gain lean muscle mass quickly. The ideal rep range for building lean muscle mass is going to be 6-10.
